Always looking for ways to improve, Celtic Linen implemented a number of innovative environmental initiatives in achieving and maintaining ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems.
- Our smart Water Reduction System allows the re-use of water 8 times over by pumping it to designated areas for pre-wash purposes. By installing state of the art machinery, Celtic has also been able to halve the quantity of water required per kilo of linen.
- Our Steam Recovery System recovers excess flash steam and re-uses it as low pressure steam for the washers reducing energy consumption considerably.
- Our Chemical Reduction Initiative has seen Celtic Linen reduce all phosphate-based detergents. In addition, we’ve also managed to reduce the quantity of detergent required per kilo by 25%.
- Our Heat Recovery System works by using waste water to heat incoming fresh water by passing 'around' (within pipe work) the fresh water intake. Also, our advanced tumblers prevent over-drying. Both work to reduce energy consumption in all our plants.
Celtic Linen has also invested in its first
Electric Vehicle. Currently used for delivering linen supplies in urban areas, it reduces air pollution and leaves no carbon footprint.
